How Can I Clean My Expensive Sandals?

One of our customers had asked a very good question about cleaning and deoderizing their expensive sandals or any sandal for that matter.  It may seem like such a simple question but when you’re talking about a $150.00 pare of sandals, you want to make sure to take care of them!

So how can you clean dirty sandals?  Of course the easy answer is to not get them dirty in the first place, and even though that’s not realistic, there are things you can do to help prevent them from getting too dirty and we will also give you some tips to clean them.  Remember though, many of these cleaning remedies are from others personal experiences, so be careful when using these ideas to clean your expensive sandals.

One obvious thing you can do is keep your feet clean.  Dirty feet = dirty sandals.  Also remember that putting lotion on your feet or if your feet sweat a lot, they can attract dust and dirt.  If you are going to be wearing sandals for a long period of time, take time throughout the day to remove your sandals and wipe your feet and sandals off with a cloth or towel.

Here are some useful tips that others have had success with over the years.

  • Leave your sandals out in the sun for a bit.  Nothing like the clean fresh air and what some say is the natural cleansing your sandals will get from the sun.
  • Take two socks and fill them with baking soda and tie the ends.  When you store the sandals put the baking soda filled socks in the sandals and the baking soda will absorb any odors and moisture.
  • Check with your local shoe store for disinfectants and cleaners that can be properly used on the type of material your sandal is made with.
  • Some folks have suggested the saddle soap can clean leather sandals.
  • Using a lightly dampened cloth, gently wipe the sandals inside and out.

We hope these tips will help your keep your Brand Name Sandals clean and in great shape for years to come.
